eSIM Installation Guide

Setting up your Wee eSIM takes just a few minutes. Follow the steps below for your device.

Before You Start

  • Make sure your device is eSIM-compatible and network-unlocked (not locked to your home carrier).
  • Connect to Wi-Fi before installing — you'll need internet access to activate the eSIM.
  • Have your QR code or activation details ready — these are sent to your email immediately after purchase.
  • Install before you travel if possible, so everything is ready the moment you land. You can install in advance without activating data usage until you arrive.

How to Install on iPhone (iOS)

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data).
  2. Tap Add eSIM (or Add Cellular Plan).
  3. Choose Use QR Code and scan the QR code from your confirmation email — or tap Enter Details Manually if you were given a code instead of a QR image.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to confirm and label the new plan (e.g. "Wee Travel eSIM").
  5. Once added, go to Settings > Cellular, select your new eSIM line, and turn on Data Roaming (if travelling internationally) and Turn On This Line.
  6. Under Cellular Data, make sure your new eSIM is selected for data — keep your home SIM for calls/texts if you have a physical SIM too.

How to Install on Android

Steps vary slightly by manufacturer (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.), but the general process is:

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet (or Connections) > SIMs (or Mobile Network).
  2. Tap Add eSIM / Add Mobile Plan / Download a SIM instead.
  3. Scan the QR code from your confirmation email when prompted.
  4. Confirm the activation and give the new plan a name.
  5. Enable Data Roaming for the new eSIM if you're travelling internationally.
  6. Set the new eSIM as your active data line under your SIM settings.

Activating Your Data

Once installed, your eSIM will automatically connect to a local network when you arrive in your destination country — no manual network selection is usually needed. If you don't see signal within a few minutes, try toggling Airplane Mode on and off, or manually select a network under your eSIM's settings.

Common Issues

  • QR code won't scan: Make sure you're scanning it from a different device (like a printed copy or a second screen) — you can't scan a QR code shown on the same phone you're installing it on. If needed, use the manual entry option instead.
  • No signal after arrival: Confirm Data Roaming is switched on for the eSIM line, and that the eSIM (not your home SIM) is set as the active data line.
  • "eSIM already in use" error: Each eSIM can only be installed once. If you've already scanned the code on another device, contact us for help.
